With a Master’s degree in Gerontology and a pre-medicine background, attorney Anjel F. Burgess brings a unique understanding to the practice of disability law. Cases often hinge on the ability to explain the evidence in a way that demonstrates a client’s eligibility for benefits, and Anjel excels at this in all stages of disability proceedings through the Social Security Administration. She knows how to illustrate how a condition revealed by medical evidence impacts people’s daily lives, and to ensure that her client’s stories are told effectively so they can receive the benefits they need to move forward with their lives.

What impresses clients the most, however, is not just her ability to achieve results, but the care and compassion she and her team display right from the start. She takes the time to truly listen to clients’ issues and concerns, and she delivers honest information so that clients are prepared for any challenges that may lie ahead.

Anjel takes a strategic approach to disability cases, critically analyzing every aspect of a case file to look for weaknesses that could trigger a denial. Then she works with clients to develop arguments to overcome challenges. With over a decade of dedicated experience, Anjel knows how to persuade examiners and judges of her clients’ needs.

Recognized for excellence by her peers through publications such as Super Lawyers and Georgia Trend Magazine, Anjel also receives constant praise from clients who have rated her 10/10 on Avvo.

Her skills, knowledge, and experience put her in frequent demand as a speaker with organizations and in the legal and medical fields. She serves on the board of directors for national, regional, and local nonprofit service entities including The Hypersomnia Foundation, PLAN of Georgia, , Special Needs Cobb and Clubhouse Atlanta. In order to help educate the public about resources available to those living with disabilities, Anjel created a podcast, The DisabiliTEA in which she and her guests hold candid discussions about a variety of issues related to disability. When Anjel isn’t helping clients address their needs or working to raise awareness of disability challenges, she enjoys spending time with family and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
