First Annual Golf Outing Sets Remarkable Precedent

West Boylston, MA
On May 19th, 2009, Wake Up Narcolepsy hosted its First Annual Golf Outing at Wachusett Country Club in West Boylston. There was not a cloud in the sky as 120 golfers and 20 volunteers congregated around the check-in table for breakfast, coffee, and gift-bags. By 10 a.m., the golfers were scattered throughout the 18-hole course, eager to begin the scramble-style tournament.
The tournament featured a Par 3 Contest, gourmet boxed lunches, refreshment stands, and prizes for the three top foursomes. After a full day of golf, participants and volunteers gathered in the clubhouse to enjoy the evening together; there was a sit down dinner, silent auction, and raffle. The silent auction included such items as Red Sox and Patriot tickets, Boston sports memorabilia, high-end golfing equipment, and a Nintendo Wii System. The evening concluded with a short presentation by some of W.U.N.’s leaders.
Wake Up Narcolepsy is proud to announce that the first golf outing raised an outstanding $25,000. Proceeds from this event will support research to find a cure for narcolepsy. W.U.N. would like to thank all those who helped set such a strong precedent for years to come, including the event’s sponsors, volunteers, and golfers. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
